In January 2023, TMI Project was lucky to have Period Power! Club members volunteer to help out at Stories for Choice: A Night of True Storytelling for Reproductive Justice. After seeing the power of true storytelling in action, they were inspired to tell their own stories to raise awareness about period poverty and reduce period stigma.
This fall, TMI Project held a true storytelling workshop for members of the Period Power! Club at Kingston High School. Students worked with TMI Project workshop leaders to craft their true, personal stories over the course of 10 weeks. We can’t wait for you to hear them!
Period Power!’s mission is to provide free and accessible period products to every student who needs them, to eradicate stigma, and end period poverty. Period poverty is defined as inadequate access to menstrual hygiene products and education stemming from low income, institutionalized prejudice, and stigma. Stories for Choice: Period Power! will support an end to period poverty by raising awareness through the power of true storytelling.

“TMI Project does the exact kind of work that the world needs. From the moment I learned about them I wanted to contribute to the way they spread outstanding courage, community, and kindness. TMI Project makes the world a more honest, open place and I am honored to be given the chance to help foster and facilitate their mission.”

“I jumped at the opportunity to participate as a storyteller in TMI Project’s first workshop and performance of #BlackStoriesMatter in early 2017 and, later that year, as a TMI Project teacher-trainee. I can’t think of more important work than helping people tell their true stories. If you think it’s simple, you should try it sometime.”
