Join TMI Project for Black Stories Matter: Every Word Spoken, a true storytelling performance featuring all-new stories touching on the triumphs, humor, beauty, and resilience of the Black experience in America. These stories were developed in Black-led true storytelling workshops where participants wrote about, shared, and reflected upon their experiences without having to justify, explain, or defend their truth.
The live storytelling performance is open to all, and will be followed by a Q & A with the participating storytellers and facilitated by Black Stories Matter Co-Directors and Workshop Leaders Dara Lurie and Micah.
Black Stories Matter: Every Word Spoken is presented in tandem with the launch of The TMI Project Podcast, Season 2: Black Stories Matter. In alignment with the Black Lives Matter movement, Season 2 amplifies the voices of thirteen Black storytellers and serves as a resource for authentic, intersectional, and nuanced stories about the Black experience that inspire introspection and accountability.
ABOUT BLACK STORIES MATTER
Black Stories Matter is TMI Project’s way to participate as an organization in the national outcry of injustice by using true storytelling to speak truth to power and to dismantle the white supremacist systems that hold racism in place. We support and amplify Black voices, share resources, and inspire anti-racist action. We acknowledge the historical predominance of white-centered narratives that permeate the cultural, political, and policy conversations in this country, and seek to elevate the full spectrum of Black experience to its proper place within the realm of American discourse.
